So close to "home". I can practically still remember where the bumps & cracks in the sidewalks are at alger & blaine. We had a little bit of crime (my bike got stolen from our garage) but no shootings in alger heights. I also graduated from calvin ('89,'94) Thoughts & prayers for the calvin professor. Glad he wasn't killed.

DOUBLE WHAMMY! "Calvin College: Man shot near Alger Middle School is history professor "| Fox17
I'm in california now,but monitor GR news,& I woke up 2 see of my schools names (calvin & alger) in the headlines ! Before transferring to Seymour Christian, I attended alger thru 4th grade in the 70's (it was an elementary school back then; some of my classmates included Mike Waalkes,Kathy Mendels,Kenny Norman,Gubby Dalson,Darrel Edwards,et al; & teachers included Mrs Edwards,Mrs Anderson,MsPage,Mrs,Lawrence,etal,& principal Mr Clements). In fact,we lived on Griswold,a stone throw from alger (back in the good ol' days when they flooded the tennis & basketball court in the winter to create an ice-skating rink).
