Well I guess you'd say maybe not a ski resort but a Bunny Hill with a tow rope
The "ski run" history is actually a deep cut from the very early days of the Knollcrest campus in the 1960s and 1970s. When the university first moved from Franklin Street to Knollcrest, a small rope-tow ski hill was set up on that specific slope [ where the new football stadium has just opened] for student recreation and physical education classes. Over the decades, it was abandoned, grew over with trees, and most alumni completely forgot it was ever there.
I attended Calvin in the '80s and '90s and also grew up there in the '70s but I don't remember that hill in the seventies and since it was gone in the 80s and '90s it is news to me when -I just found this out.
I remember the hill there it actually wasn't really a hill it was like a cliff around that curve & the baseball stadium was down on the other side it's not something you would even think about sledding or or skiing because it was just a straight drop down as far as I recall. This picture makes it look like it was a gentle slope so maybe they cleared it out with gigantic earthmovers at some point.
And now that's where the new football stadium is . .
